The Initial Challenge
When I first met my clients, they had a large, outdated bathroom that just did not meet their needs. The oversized tub and two-way fireplace dominated the space leaving little room for a functional shower. Their vanity was 27” tall, standard when it was built, but not great for a family where the shortest human was 5’10”. The layout did not work and was a perfect example of wasted space.
The Design Vision
Our collaborative journey began with a vision to transform the primary suite as a whole into a sanctuary that would blend practicality with elegance. The clients wanted a modern yet timeless design, focusing on maximizing space and storage while incorporating personalized touches.
Key Transformations
The centerpiece of the remodel was the conversion of the oversized tub and two-sided fireplace into a luxurious wet room. This innovative solution not only opened up the bathroom but also allowed for dual shower areas and an extra-long tub—a perfect balance of relaxation and functionality.
The original shower area was repurposed into a custom laundry nook, seamlessly integrating household chores into the daily routine without compromising on aesthetics.
Understanding the client's needs for height-adjusted fixtures, we designed and installed a bespoke vanity at 42 inches high, ensuring comfort and accessibility for taller individuals—a small but significant detail that makes such a difference in comfort and function.
A Touch of Romance
One of the most enchanting features of this remodel was the transformation of the double-sided fireplace. Originally dividing the bathroom and the primary bedroom, it now stands as a romantic stone fireplace within the bedroom—a cozy addition that adds warmth and intimacy to the entire space. And most importantly, the dogs love it!
Materials and Finishes
Carefully selected materials played a pivotal role in achieving the desired ambiance. Neutral tones and natural textures were chosen to create a harmonious blend with the surrounding environment. The use of stone for the fireplace, premium tiles for the wet room, and custom Amish-built cabinetry for the vanity and laundry nook added a touch of sophistication and durability.

Upon completion, the bathroom evolved from a functional necessity to a luxurious retreat. It not only meets but exceeds the client's expectations, offering them a serene haven where they can unwind and rejuvenate.
