Transforming a Bathroom: When Moving a Door Opens a Room of Possibilities
In the realm of home renovation, bathroom and kitchen remodels are where you can get the most bang for your buck - and when a bathroom remodel is done right, it can significantly enhance both functionality and aesthetics. Recently, Leisyl B Designs teamed up with All-In-One Frey’s Home Improvement to tackle a comprehensive bathroom renovation that beautifully demonstrates the power of design and craftsmanship. The client's wish list was clear: functional storage, a larger walk-in shower, and a modern, updated look. The result is a simple but stunning transformation.
Meeting the Client's Needs
The original bathroom was charming but lacked the essential features the client desired. Storage was minimal, the shower space was cramped, and the tub was large and imposing. The overall layout didn’t maximize the space's potential, and the outdated design was in dire need of an upgrade. To top things off, the clients had been dealing with a leak in their shower floor for years that no one was quite able to figure out, let alone fix.
New Features and Layout
1. Enhanced Storage Solutions
To address the need for more storage, the remodel introduced custom cabinetry that offers ample space while maintaining a sleek profile. The choice of Sherwin-Williams SW 7617 Mediterranean on the cabinetry provides a refreshing, modern color that complements the entire space and adds a touch of fun and uniqueness - not very many bathrooms out there have teal cabinets!
2. Spacious Walk-In Shower
A significant highlight of the remodel is the expanded walk-in shower. The new design features a spacious enclosure complete with a comfortable bench, making it not only larger but also more functional. The shower walls are adorned with Virginia Tile's Absolute 12x24 Matte Porcelain Tile, which is also used on the bathroom floors and surrounding the tub area, ensuring a seamless and cohesive look.
3. Beautiful Tile Accents
One of the most striking features of the remodel is the accent wall in the shower, which showcases Virginia Tile's Chalmers 2x9 Metalbrick Brick Lux in Emerald. The herringbone pattern of these tiles creates a visually dynamic and luxurious focal point. The shower floor features Hearth Palace Kara Blue Penny Round tiles, adding a touch of playfulness and texture to the space. These design elements are carefully selected to offer both functionality and a sophisticated aesthetic. Once Leisyl shared the idea of the accent wall with the clients, the rest of the design and selections all just fell into place. The same tile is used as an accent in the bath tub space, and as a backsplash at the vanities, but it looks completely different in a simple brick-lay pattern.
4. Upgraded Tub Space
The remodel replaced the bulky built-in soaking tub with a more streamlined version, freeing up valuable floor space. By removing the original tub we were able to move the door into the closet, freeing up important real estate to create a larger shower. Adding a simple frosted effect to the beautiful half-moon window lets natural light in without losing the privacy the original shade provided.
5. Luxurious Surfaces
The countertops and shower bench seat are crafted from MSI New Calacatta Laza Quartz, adding a touch of luxury and durability. The quartz’s veined patterns echo the elegance of natural marble while offering superior performance and easy maintenance.
A Modern and Functional Design
The revamped bathroom is a testament to the effective collaboration between Leisyl B Designs and All-in-One Frey's Home Improvement. The thoughtful integration of new storage solutions, a spacious shower, and high-end finishes has resulted in a space that is not only functional but also visually stunning. The updated design harmonizes modern aesthetics with practical elements, ensuring that the client’s daily routine is both enjoyable and efficient. It’s a perfect example of how thoughtful design can enhance everyday living, making a once-overlooked space into a highlight of the home.
